RERA registration in Maharashtra: general information

The Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016 is administered in Maharashtra by MahaRERA. Real estate projects where the land area exceeds 500 square metres or the number of apartments exceeds eight must be registered before they are advertised or sold.

Promoters must keep 70% of the amounts collected from buyers in a separate bank account and use it only for the project. Withdrawals are certified by an engineer, an architect and a Chartered Accountant. Real estate agents must also register with MahaRERA before facilitating sales.
