Banks, embassies, government departments and investors often ask for certificates from a Chartered Accountant, such as a net worth certificate, a turnover certificate or a certificate of utilisation of funds.
Since 2019, ICAI requires every certificate, audit report and attest document issued by a practising CA to carry a Unique Document Identification Number (UDIN). The recipient can verify the UDIN on the ICAI portal to confirm the document is genuine.
Key points
- Net worth certificates for visas, tenders and loans
- Turnover certificates for tenders and lenders
- Utilisation certificates for grants and project funding
- Every certificate carries a UDIN that can be verified online
- Certificates are based on records the CA has examined
