Questions

When is GST registration mandatory?

In Maharashtra, GST registration is required once aggregate turnover crosses ₹40 lakh for suppliers of goods, or ₹20 lakh for suppliers of services. Some persons must register regardless of turnover. These include those making inter-state taxable supplies of goods, most sellers through e-commerce operators, casual taxable persons and persons liable under reverse charge.

What are the GST rates after September 2025?

From 22 September 2025, GST has two main rates, 5% and 18%, and a 40% rate for a small set of luxury and sin goods. Nil, 0.25% and 3% continue for specific items. Most items earlier taxed at 12% moved to 5%, and most at 28% moved to 18%. Check the rate for the exact HSN or SAC code before invoicing.

What is the due date for GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B?

For monthly filers, GSTR-1 is due by the 11th and GSTR-3B by the 20th of the following month. Under the QRMP scheme, quarterly GSTR-3B is due by the 22nd of the month after the quarter for taxpayers in Maharashtra. Input tax credit can be claimed only when the supplier invoice appears in your GSTR-2B, so reconcile before filing GSTR-3B.
